being self aware in a mental health sense can be great because you know what you need to work on but also terrible because said self awareness does not inherently instill you with enough motivation to do the actual work.

Oh they’re fucking FINALLY having this discussion. You would not believe how I see even “nature lovers” (especially nature lovers) talk about invasive species like they’re evil demons you can go ahead and burn alive. Article is more about phasing out some exceptionally cruel types of trap but maybe that’ll get regular people reconsidering how they treat stuff in their own yards, too.
Because what I feel I consistently observe is that, they might not even realize it at all, but it’s like people are playing “acceptable target” with invasives and letting out all their bloodlust. I am not vegan and not against killing organisms in all sorts of contexts but there’s no excuse to be callous and spiteful in the process.
An offshoot of a squad of British rappers known for the novelty of being old white dudes, but who spit fierce bars and have the rough and tumble lives to back up their lyrics, the Northern Boys are like… the feeling of the now, in a nutshell. Partying, doing drugs, drinking, but with explicit declaration that it’s a poor coverup for depression, failed relationships, and the knowledge that it’s all going to end very badly. They’re also refreshingly equitable about queerness and transness.
Their most famous track is “Party Time” and it has the chorus “It’s party time, get your drugs out/Do you wanna make love to a sad old man?”
we all know and love dog coded characters but what about their cousin, falcon coded characters. characters whose loyalty is fierce, but more distant, less physically affectionate, an unspoken but mutually understood bond. whose devotion to you is a language that only the two of you understand. whose fearsome appearance never lets you forget the privilege you hold in having earned that devotion. who require careful handling and patience to bond with, so you don’t slip and cut yourself on their sharp edges. whose trust is given after you place yours in them, not before. whose dependence on you is less apparent but no less real. whose power is only equal to their fragility. who can easily leave your side, but will always return when you hold out your hand and call them home.
